We at the Bokeelia Tarpon Inn have always understood that one of the greatest attractions for the fisherman is the setting. The opportunity to lose oneself in the quiet beauty of nature is surely one of the sport's greatest appeals.
The Inn, which occupies the historic Poe-Johnson home, is located on Bocilla Island overlooking Charlotte Harbor. Guests are afforded magnificent views of the Harbor and its flats, rustic old Florida fishing piers and, across the Harbor, Boca Grande, Bull and Turtle Bays, and Punta Gorda.
See WE JUST LOVE THIS ISLAND.
Constructed in 1914, the Poe-Johnson home is one of the earliest buildings on the island. This home was chosen by the family for the same reason it was built - peace, serenity and sunsets. The mansion has been lovingly restored and, except for new landscaping, roof and painting, it accurately depicts the original external structure.
The interior has been renovated to accommodate an upscale Bed and Breakfast, yet great care was taken to preserve its original charm. It remains a home.
CHART ROOM
You must see our fisherman's "Chart Room" filled to the brim with nautical oddities, antique fishing poles, charts and a library of local resources for our guests. Fishing Knots, fly tying and fly fishing lessons are available.
